Beach Boys' 'Pet Sounds' 50th Anniversary Concert: All the Highlights
All the highlights fro the show!
— -- As John Stamos aptly put it last night, there's nothing more American than celebrating July 4 at Coney Island listening to the Beach Boys.
The iconic band brought out Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and Stamos to sing all the iconic jams in front of a patriotic audience. It was also a night of reflection, as the band paid homage to the 50th anniversary of its legendary album "Pet Sounds."
Here are the highlights:
Jesse & The Rippers Are Back!
Stamos being Stamos played his iconic "Full House" hit "Forever" to the delight of the audience.
Pictures from his Uncle Jesse days played as Stamos performed.
Tribute to the Late Carl Wilson
In the middle of the show, the band played "God Only Knows" and used recordings of Carl, who died in 1998, to carry the tune. It was a somber, but inspiring moment as the band honored one of its founding members.
The Music!
"I Get Around," "Don't Worry Baby," "Kokomo," "California Girls" and many, many more.
The hits kept coming on July 4.
Crowd Interaction
If you've ever been to Coney Island, the new Ford Amphitheater is right off the boardwalk.
So, fireworks were exploding as the Beach Boys were singing their classic tunes. You could stand outside, as many people did, and just listen to the jams.
Also, during "Help me Rhonda," Johnston wanted to get the audience really involved and held a sing-along for the chorus. The words popped up on screen and the crowd took over for the band's backup singers.
The Patriotism
The audience was dressed to the nines in their best red, white and blue memorabilia. Stamos took to the mic later in the night and paid tribute and respect to all those who make America the free country it is.
There wasn't a more patriotic place to be in the entire country.
