Blake Shelton on His 'Fast' Divorce With Miranda Lambert
The country singer reveals how he kept the split a secret.
— -- After more than four years of marriage, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert announced their divorce two months ago, which shocked the country music world.
Shelton spoke out today about the A-list split, which was finalized so fast, on the Bobby Bones Show, saying, "In Oklahoma, it happens so fast. Like, Miranda and I didn't have any kids, and we had a pre-nuptial agreement, whatever we had. Once we filed for divorce, it was over in, like, I think it was like a nine or ten day waiting period until it's over."
Shelton also addressed the rumors that started to bubble up right before they announced and how they were able to keep it secret until it was over.
"We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that, because by the time anybody knew anything it was over. It was done," he added. "Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this, it is what it is. We're buddies."
TMZ broke the news that the couple had split and Shelton joked, "You can't get away with anything fun anymore because of them."
At the time of the split in mid-July, Shelton and Lambert told the Associated Press, "This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
The couple have been together for about a decade and married in 2011 in Texas after five years of dating.
