— -- For Bradley Cooper, the saying "mother knows best" took a new meaning while he filmed upcoming comedy-drama, "Joy."

The movie, directed by David O. Russell, tells the story of Joy Mangano, the creator of the Miracle Mop, featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Mangano, and also stars Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper.

In an interview with E! News, Cooper revealed that his mother, Gloria, had a role because she knows so much about the home shopping network QVC, which made the Miracle Mop a household name.

"[My mom] actually was a consultant for David on the movie when he was conceiving it because she's a huge disciple of QVC," Cooper said.

Cooper, 40, also admitted that he has been a longtime Miracle Mop user.

"There were QVC packages on the door step every time I came home from school," the actor said. "The Miracle Mop I actually took to college. It was very embarrassing."

"Joy" will be released in theaters on Dec. 25, 2015.
