— -- Marvel made a huge announcement today, introducing nine new movies through 2019.

"This film has been in the works almost as long as 'Doctor Strange' or 'Guardians of the Galaxy' before it came out," President Kevin Feige addressed the crowd today at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. "And one of the key things was figuring out what we wanted to do with it. Her adventures are very earthbound, but her powers are based in the cosmic realm.”

According to Marvel, Danvers powers include "flight, enhanced strength, durability and the ability to shoot concussive energy bursts from her hands." She is also a pilot.

She first appeared in the Marvel comics in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 in 1967.

No word on who will play her.
