Chris Hemsworth Explains How Brother Liam Almost Cast as Thor
Can you imagine Miley's ex playing the God of Thunder?
Jan. 7, 2014 — -- Can you imagine Liam Hemsworth as Thor?
Well, when the actor who got the title role -- Chris Hemsworth, Liam's older brother -- first auditioned for the part, casting initially liked Liam, 23, more than the person they eventually picked.
"I auditioned for 'Thor,' and I didn't get called back," Chris Hemsworth , 30, admits to W magazine of the 2011 film. "I was intimidated by the director, Kenneth Branagh. To me, he is Shakespeare. My brother, Liam, was luckier. He was one of the final five guys up for the part."
But lucky for fans, lucky for Chris and lucky for "The Avengers," none of the final five were "quite right."

"My manager said, 'If you liked Liam, maybe you'll also like his older brother,'" Chris Hemsworth added.
This second chance was when the "Rush" star said he nailed it and got the part that now seems like he was absolutely born to play.
"[The second] time, I was pissed off," he added. "I didn't care about Shakespeare anymore; swagger got me the part."
