Dax Shepard Got a Vasectomy After Kristen Bell Had a Pregnancy Scare
The couple have two daughters Lincoln, 3, and Delta, 17 months.
— -- Dax Shepard and wife Kristen Bell have their hands full with daughters Lincoln Shepard, 3, and Delta Shepard, 17 months.
So when Jimmy Kimmel asked Shepard, 41, on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Wednesday if he and Bell, 35, planned to have more children, the "Parenthood" star had a ready response.
"Ah, no," Dax replied. "Last year, my wife was working in Atlanta. We were there and she all of a sudden goes, 'Oh, my gosh! I'm so stupid. I've been sick for 10 days and ignoring it; I'm definitely pregnant.' And I was like, 'We're going to turn into "Jon & Kate Plus 8" or something. We already have no life! This is going to be not worth living.' I freaked out. It was so bad."
Even worse, Shepard had to wait to find out if his wife was indeed pregnant.
"That was Tuesday and she had to work, so for eight hours we didn't get a pregnancy test," he explained. "For eight hours I was, like, imagining my life with all these kids. That was Tuesday. I flew home Wednesday for a meeting. Thursday morning I had a vasectomy."
As the crowd cheered, the actor joked, "There's a lot of urologists in the audience."
Though it turned out Bell wasn't pregnant, there was no turning back for Shepard.
"I had a vasectomy and Kristen was not thrilled that I did it so quickly," he told Kimmel. "But I'm a man of action, so I was in and out. I was back in Atlanta two days after that shooting a Samsung commercial."
When Kimmel asked what the procedure was like, Shepard said, "It's pretty great, because they knock you out for it."
