Ed Sheeran Announces He's 'Taking a Break' From Social Media

— -- Ed Sheeran said he is quitting social media for a while.

The "Thinking Out Loud" singer announced on Instagram that he needs a break after completing his "x" Tour on Saturday in New Zealand. Sheeran began the tour, promoting his sophomore album, back in August 2014 in Japan. He eventually performed over 150 shows on five continents.

Sheeran, 24, wrote: "I'm taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while. I've had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed."

The British singer also had a special message for his friends and family. "If you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit," he said.

Sheeran also reassured fans that his social media break doesn't mean he's taking time off from creating new music. "To my fans," he said, "the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far."

He closed the announcement by saying, "See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing."
