'Hamilton' Will Be Filmed Before Lin-Manuel Miranda Leaves
His last day is July 9.
— -- Listen up Broadway fans: "Hamilton" creator and Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda will indeed be leaving his blockbuster musical on July 9, but he tweeted that the throngs who still can't get into -- or can't afford tickets to -- the show are not out of luck.
"We're filming the original cast before I go," the creator said. "WE GOT YOU."
Miranda said he also would love to "drop into" the Chicago production of the historical hip-hop musical "if only just for a day," according to USA Today.
Miranda also dreams of bringing the play to Puerto Rico, the island where his parents were raised.
Javier Muñoz, Manuel's understudy, will take over full-time starting July 11.
In other musical news, a movie adaptation of the long-running Broadway musical "Wicked" will hit theaters Dec. 20, 2019.
Universal Pictures announced the news via Twitter.
