— -- Hilary Duff has been in the public eye since she was 10.

She started acting in 1997 and made it big years later with "Lizzie McGuire."

But the now 27-year-old mom admits that back when she was a famous teen, she was "too thin."

"That was not a healthy place for me. I was so unhappy. I remember my hands cramping because I wasn't getting enough nutrients," she told People magazine.

She added, "A lot of girls my age were super skinny. I think it's just as bad now, but it's more normal. It's crazy. I can't be that way. It's not my normal state."

Now, Duff is happier and healthier than ever.

"I don’t need to be 110 pounds," she said. "I feel fit and strong."
