— -- Hilary Duff is opening up about her relationship with ex-husband, former NHL star Mike Comrie.

Duff appeared as a guest on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Friday, and explained how she and Comrie, who share custody of their 3-year-old son Luca, remain amiable despite their separation.

"You and Mike, by the way, are really doing it right," DeGeneres said. "You're friends and raising your son [together] and it's very friendly, and I think that's the way it should be."

"We have such a great kid, and we're both so obsessed with him," Duff said. "We are good friends and we laugh a lot, and we have a great communication."

The 28-year-old "Younger" actress also revealed that she and Comrie often "share stories and pictures when one [parent] is not with Luca."

"He's great, we're great, and we keep on trucking," Duff said.

Duff and Comrie married in 2010, and confirmed that they were separating in January 2014.
