— -- First she revealed that she was working on a new studio album -- and now Janet Jackson has announced a new world tour, starting later this year.

The "Unbreakable World Tour," kicks off in North America, in Vancouver, Canada, starting Aug. 31. Tickets for the general public will go on sale next Monday, though American Express card members can begin purchasing tickets for select shows today.

Last month, the "Rhythm Nation" singer set off an internet frenzy when she announced on May 16, her 49th birthday, that she was working on new music and a new tour.

"I promised you’d hear it from my lips, and now you will," Jackson said in a video that she tweeted out with the hashtag #ConversationsInACafe, the new album's presumed title.

"This year: new music, new world tour, a new movement. I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going," she said.

Following today's announcement, Jackson posted a video of dancers auditioning for the tour.

Jackson's new album will be her first in seven years and is scheduled to be released this fall. The six-time Grammy winner's catalog of hits dates back to the mid-1980s, ranging from "What Have You Done for Me Lately" to "That's the Way Love Goes" to "All for You."

Her first U.S. tour date is set for Sept. 11 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Jackson also announced shows in Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Miami and more. 36 dates.

The full list can be found on Jackson's website.
