Joe Giudice on Upcoming Prison Sentence: 'It's Not a Big Deal'
Giudice will report to jail to serve his 41-month sentence on Wednesday.
— -- Joe Giudice does not appear to be stressing out too much about his quickly approaching sentence at a low-security prison in New Jersey -- saying that he considers it "like rehabilitation."
In an interview with People magazine, Giudice opened up about how he is feeling ahead of the time he was about to serve, and revealed that he is not extremely concerned about how he will fare behind bars.
"It's not a big deal," Giudice said. "They tell me that the low security and the camp there are almost the same so it's no big deal."
Giudice was sentenced to 41 months in prison for tax fraud in October 2014. The reality TV star will report to the Federal Correction Institute Fort Dix in New Jersey on Wednesday, March 23.
"It's a military camp is what it is," Giudice said. "It's not a high security, and anybody that's in there is basically people that have already served a lot of time basically working their years to get out. So once you are there if you screw up there, then you go back to high security."
Giudice's prison sentence comes just months after the release of his wife Teresa, who served an 11 and a half month sentence at Danbury Federal Prison in Connecticut for the same crime. The couple's sentences were staggered in the interest of the couple’s four young daughters, Gia, 15, Gabriella, 11, Milania, 10, and Audriana, 6.
Giudice is maintaining a positive outlook on his time in prison, revealing that plans to treat his prison sentence as a time to rehabilitate himself.
"I'm looking at it like rehabilitation for me," Giudice said. "I am not going to be able to drink for a while which is good because I don't even know when it's been since I haven't had a drink. It's been a long time. Definitely the whole year I definitely drank every day a couple bottles at night just to go to bed."
