John Legend reveals he once tried to break up with Chrissy Teigen but she wouldn't let him

— -- John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have been together for nearly a decade and married since 2013.

But there was one near-breakup.

In an interview with the Guardian, Legend revealed that he once tried to break up with the supermodel but she would have none of it.

"I was really stressed and busy," he said. "I was just like, 'I’d just be happier single right now,' and she was like, 'No.'"

They were back together in less than half an hour.

"She pushes me to be funnier," he said of his wife, "not because she’s trying to, I think it’s just being around her. And to be bolder."

Legend also recalled meeting Teigen back in 2007 when a director cast her for the music video for Legend's song "Stereo."

"It was this one-on-one video of just me and a girl, and she’s my love interest in the video," Legend reminisced. "We spent the whole day dancing together, grinding together. And, uh, we made a music video."

The couple are parents of 16-month-old daughter Luna.
