The two rivals will face off in July in Las Vegas.
— -- UFC fans will get a chance to see Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier fight for the title at UFC 200 on July 9 in Las Vegas.
Jones and Cormier appeared on “Good Morning America” today when the announcement was made.
"Me and my team have been working extensively on a great strategy, game plan to beat Dan Cormier," said Jones. "I got thrown a last minute change of opponent, felt like I did great with the given circumstances and we’re ready to get back to my original plan, which is just to dominate Dan Cormier again.
Jones, the number one-ranked pound-for-pound fighter, defeated Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197 last weekend. Cormier was sidelined by a shin injury that forced him to withdraw from the fight.
"I’m here, you know obviously, so the doctor’s appointment went well," Cormier said of his injury. "I made a lot of improvement in the last training camp and I don’t think in July that it should be a problem."
Cormier added, "I’ve been wanting to fight Jon for a long time, after he beat me last January. I feel great."
Joining Jones and Cormier on "GMA" today were some of the sport's biggest stars, including UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell, bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, Frankie Edgar, current "Dancing With the Stars" celebrity Paige VanZant and UFC President Dana White.
