— -- “Jurassic World” hit theaters this weekend, bringing prehistoric creatures back to the big screen. The film pulled in more than $511 million, making it the highest global opener ever. Starring alongside the dinosaurs is a velociraptor trainer played by Chris Pratt, who thanked fans on his Facebook page over the weekend.
"On behalf of everyone involved in the making of #JurassicWorld, and believe me there are thousands of us, I want to say thank you," Pratt wrote. "It feels so wonderful to hear the overwhelmingly positive response. We are incredibly blessed and overcome with joy at the outcome of the movie and couldn't be more appreciative for the amazing support you've shown so far. This is bigger than all of us. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Pratt, who also starred in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and is well-known for his role in the TV series “Parks and Recreation,” clearly put in time training for the part. In the past Pratt has referenced getting in shape for his films.
"I just like to gain weight and lose weight," Pratt told Vulture in September. "It's a roller coaster. I just want to do this."

And it's not just his good looks that have got fans swooning, as Pratt has recently showed off his adorable paternal side.
This probably won’t be the last time Pratt works with dinosaurs. In interviews he has said he’s signed on for future installments.
