Justin Bieber Admits He's 'Struggling' With Fame
The singer reveals the downside of fame and discusses his love for Selena Gomez.
— -- Justin Bieber seems to be making amends for past mistakes, though it hasn’t been easy.
In a new Billboard cover story, the singer admitted that being a celebrity isn't all it's cracked up to be.
“It might seem awesome from the outside, but I’m struggling,” he said. “Certain things broke my trust with people. Situations happen that taint your mind. I started going through the motions. I felt like people were judging me all the time. I came out alive. I came out swinging. But I was close to letting [fame] completely destroy me."
His personal life has been tough, too. Bieber isn't completely over his 2014 split from Selena Gomez, saying that he still loves her and that it’s “too soon” for him to get serious with anyone else.
“I’m proud of the woman she is today,” he said, adding, “When you love someone that much, even if something comes between you, it’s a love that never really dies.”
Even so, Bieber hasn’t yet been able to listen to her new album, "Revival."
“I know I had a lot of play in that one,” he said. “I don’t know what she’s saying about me.”
Bieber had his own things to say about his new album, "Purpose," which drops Nov. 13.
“I’m self-expressing with this album -- I can’t skip on the moments that were dark, the moments that were happy, the ex-girlfriend stuff,” he said. “It makes it real, rather than ‘let’s call up Max Martin to write you a hit song.’ I want my music to be inspiring.”
