— -- Justin Bieber says he wants to "express how I feel" and make amends for a year of alleged troublemaking and legal drama.

After being interviewed earlier in the day on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," Bieber, 20, posted a dark video clip on Facebook.

"I was really nervous and I think I was nervous because I was afraid of what people are thinking about me right now," he said. "I didn't want to come off arrogant or conceited. Basically, how I have been acting the past year, year and a half."

The video seemed to be Bieber's acknowledgement that his recent troubles, including reports involving graffiti and aggression against photographers, have harmed his reputation.

"I'm not what was pretended to be," he said. "We pretend to be something we are not. We cover up what we are truly feeling inside. There were a lot of feelings going on in there. Just being young and growing up in this business is hard. Growing up in general is hard. But yeah, I felt awkward up there. People were judging me and I really want people to know how much I care."

He added, "I'm not that person to say, 'I don't give a f---. I'm not that kid. I'm a person who genuinely cares. Although what's happened in the past has happened, I just want to make the best impression on people.

Earlier in the day, Bieber also chatted with DeGeneres for her 57th birthday and said, "Honestly, I haven’t been on TV in a while so I’m a little nervous."

He brought DeGeneres flowers and was upbeat. His hair was grown out, reminiscent of the old Bieber.

As for his upcoming roast on Comedy Central on March 1, he said, "I think it’s just cool to be able to laugh at yourself so- I’ve done some things that might not of been the greatest. ... I just want to be able to, ya know, laugh about it, and kind of, just kind [of] own up to some of the things.”

DeGeneres added that she believes Bieber has "been taking care of himself" and "straightened up" recently.
