Kevin Jonas Gets Engaged, Pops the Question to Danielle Deleasa
Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers proposes to girlfriend of two years.
July 2, 2009 — -- The oldest Jonas brother is getting ready to swap his purity ring for a wedding band after proposing to his girlfriend of two years.
Kevin Jonas, 21, popped the question to Danielle Deleasa, 22, Wednesday morning at her New Jersey home, People magazine reported on its Web site. The couple have been dating since May 2007, when they met while vacationing with their families in the Bahamas.
Kevin told People that Deleasa "said yes, yes, yes like 500 times superfast in a row" after he presented her with a cushion-cut diamond ring from Jacob & Co. Deleasa, a former hairdresser, said the proposal "still feels like a dream" and added that they haven't set a wedding date yet.
"Our hearts are filled with joy today and we are happy to share with you that our son Kevin has asked Danielle for her hand in marriage," parents Denise and Kevin Jonas Sr. said in a statement to People. "Family is very dear to us, and we hope we have raised Kevin to be a wonderful man and husband."
Younger brothers Joe Jonas, 19, and Kevin Jonas, 16, wished their brother well via Twitter.
"Congrats big brother. ... Dani welcome to the family, we can't wait to have you join us on the road!" they posted on the band's Twitter page.
Kevin Jonas is the oldest member of The Jonas Brothers, the N.J.-based boy band with a massive teen and tween following. Their latest album, "Lines Vines and Trying Times," has sold 247,000 copies since its June 16 release.
The Jonas Brothers may be as well-known for their music and movies as for their clean-cut image and conservative values. Avowed evangelical Christians, their father is a former Assembly of God pastor and they were homeschooled by their mother.
