Kid Cudi Performs for 1st Time Since Rehab
He checked himself into a treatment facility last month for depression.
— -- Kid Cudi kept his promise and returned to the stage for the first time since checking himself into rehab for depression last month.
"Listen, I miss every single one of you, I love every single one of you," he said on stage Saturday night while performing his hit "Pursuit of Happiness" at ComplexCon in Long Beach, California. "I know life is crazy...but we can make it through. I am living proof, I am living proof!"
The hip-hop artist, who was born Scott Mescudi, also performed his hits, "Frequency" and "Erase Me" and was even assisted by some special guests. Travis Scott reunited with the rapper for their track "Through the Late Night," while Pharrell Williams joined Cudi for a performance of their new single "Surfin."
Later, Williams posted a photo of the pair on Instagram.
On Oct. 4, Cudi, 32, revealed on Facebook that he was suffering from "depression and suicidal urges" and had checked into a treatment facility.
"My anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember and I never leave the house because of it. I can’t make new friends because of it. I don’t trust anyone because of it and I’m tired of being held back in my life. I deserve to have peace. I deserve to be happy and smiling. Why not me?" he wrote.
At the time, he told fans that his sixth album was still on the way and that "if all goes well" he would be at ComplexCon.
His return was greeted warmly by fans.
