Well, the Fort was built by Grand Duke Ferdinando I de' Medici and designed by Bernardo Buontalenti during the latter part of the 16th Century. It served to protect the city, which was ruled by the famous Medici family.

The fort is also conveniently located next to the gorgeous Boboli Gardens, peppered with priceless works of art dating back to the 1500's.

The fort was constructed in 1590, years after a siege of 1529, lead to the need to strengthen the city of Florence's defenses.
The grand setting will give West, Kardashian and their chic friends a panoramic view of Florence and the surrounding Tuscan hills.
Along with adding protection to the city and the Pitti Plaza from foreign attack, the fort was built to show the world the power the Medici family yielded, much like the power West and Kardashian yield in modern popular culture. The villa inside the fort is elegant but meant to be garish by design.

The fort reopened to the public just last year after half a decade of renovations. It now hosts art exhibitions and weddings.
