It's the wedding of the year. Well, almost.
Kim Kardashian will tie the knot with Kris Humphries in California this Saturday in a ceremony that seems to be the couple's answer to Prince William and Catherine Middleton's April nuptials: Anything they can do, we can do flashier.
From the crystal-encrusted invitations to the nearly $200,000 registry, pretty much every aspect of Kardashian and Humphries' wedding is over the top. Unlike Will and Kate's, though, little of it is under wraps.
The 30-year-old reality TV star and 26-year-old NBA forward have invited cameras to chronicle the preparations for their big day (E! will air a four-hour special about it in October), and Kardashian has divulged details of the ceremony in the days and weeks leading up to her walk down the aisle. Many brides might abstain from social events before their wedding weekend. Not Kardashian. Being in the spotlight is part of her job, after all, so the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star refused to halt her hectic schedule in the days leading up to her nuptials. Humphries followed her lead. The two cozied up on the red carpet of the launch party for the Kardashians' Sears clothing line Wednesday. Afterward, Humphries asked his fiancee via Twitter "is this what our first kiss will be like?" Hopefully not, considering their lips weren't actually touching.
It's a Family Affair
Yes, Humphries is essential to the wedding. But so is the supporting cast -- Kardashian's family. Mom Kris Jenner, sisters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, and half-sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner came out for Wednesday's Kardashian Kollection launch party. It's rumored that the ladies will swap leopard-print for white on Saturday. Kardashian is reportedly bucking tradition and asking her guests to dress in white and black for her ceremony.
A man can't be expected to pick out his own wedding wear, can he? Kardashian and Humphries have been shopping for the big day throughout the summer. In June, they stopped by the Beverly Hills shop Sutor Mantellassi to eye shirts and ties, which may make an appearance at Saturday's shindig. Kardashian announced last month that she'll walk down the aisle in a Vera Wang dress. The designer is rumored to be crafting a second dress for the occasion as well.
One Last Night With the Gals
While the Kardashian clan will accompany her through her wedding and beyond, given the gals' penchant for nightlife, it's no surprise that Kardashian celebrated her last days of singlehood in a big way. On July 23, Kardashian's sisters threw her a bash at Tao Las Vegas complete with paraphernalia shaped like a certain part of the male body and a miniature male stripper. "My sisters are doing everything they can to embarrass me," she told the crowd of partiers. Hopefully, that won't happen at the wedding.
That Bling Ring
It's the monster that started it all: a 20.5 carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond that Humphries gave Kardashian in May. His thought process in selecting the ring: "I just knew I wanted it to be big," he told People magazine. Close up, the real thing looks larger than life. It inspired the makers of Ring Pop to send Kardashian a candy, Swarovski crystal-studded version of the stunner to celebrate her big day. Sweet.
