Kristen Stewart Teams Up Again With Jesse Eisenberg in New Film 'Cafe Society'
"Cafe Society" opens Friday, July 15.
— -- Kristen Stewart is taking on an unexpected role, playing a Midwestern secretary caught in a love triangle in 1930s Hollywood in the upcoming film "Cafe Society."
"I play somebody who really needs to facilitate this impulsive, really guiltless kind of unconditional moments, and so the only way that would work is if her energy is just light and inviting and like poignant all the time," Stewart said today on "Good Morning America." "I had to audition for the part ... I can be light and poignant, but I just tend to have a slightly more weighted energy."
In the film, Stewart co-stars alongside Jesse Eisenberg. This will be the actors' third movie together.
"He's like just stupidly smart," Stewart said of Eisenberg. "Instead of it being intimidating ... I want to keep up with him. I'm not embarrassed around him, ever. He's a really, really, open, warm person. He's a good actor. I've known him for years, so to play someone so outside of myself was easy with him because I could do anything and not ever feel silly."
As for other projects, Stewart is directing her first short film, about the power of women. She said that she has wanted to direct since she was 9 years old.
