Liam Hemsworth Calls ‘Independence Day’ Co-Star Jeff Goldblum ‘One of My Favorite People’
Working with Goldblum was “amazing,” Hemsworth said.
— -- Liam Hemsworth had to sneak to watch “Independence Day,” the blockbuster sci-fi adventure film that was released in 1996.
Now, he’s starring in the sequel, “Independence Day: Resurgence.”
“I was about 6 1/2 to 7 years old when I first watched it and my brothers had it on VHS videotape and I sneaked in and watched it with them ...,” he said in an interview with ABC News’ Sara Haines.
The cast of the sequel includes Maika Monroe, Sela Ward and Jessie Usher, as well as Vivica A. Fox, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum, who are reprising their roles from the original.
Hemsworth, 26, said it was “amazing” to work with Goldblum.
“He is one of my favorite people that I ever met ... he is just so passionate about it. You turn up to set every day and he is, sort of, fuels everyone with happiness and energy. It’s a good time working with him,” Hemsworth said.
Hemsworth’s older brothers –- Chris and Luke -– are also in the acting business. Asked whether he would ever want to work with them, he said: “We've talked about it. I don't think it will happen any time soon but it would be a fun thing to do one day ... .”
Haines asked Hemsworth about the dynamic with his siblings.
“I think I was the craziest when I was a child. My uncles called me ‘devil child’ and said that I needed to be exorcised ...,” he said.
“Independence Day: Resurgence” premieres June 24.
