Which Main Character Almost Got Cut from 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
The movie could have been very different without this guy.
— -- Nicole Perlman, the writer behind last year's hit "Guardians of the Galaxy," spoke to Marvel LIVE at Comic-Con last weekend ans spilled some secrets from the movie.
These are biggies, like Bradley Cooper's character Rocket almost didn't make the cut!
Perlman said that the endearing, genius and violent Rocket raccoon, voiced by Bradley Cooper, may not have made the film.
"Rocket was a late addition," she said. "I'm really glad we put him in. He was very much on the fence for a while."
As most fans know, he ended up being one of the most beloved of the Guardians, creating all the fun weapons the gang used against Ronan and others. He was also often the comic relief.
"There was some back and forth, but he made it in, thank goodness," she said.
In addition, Peter Quill aka Star-Lord had a lot of his back story changed from the books to the movie.
Perlman said she didn't want Quill, played by Chris Pratt, to start out being too noble. In the movie, it takes a world almost being destroyed for Quill to come and try to save the day. Basically he needed some convincing not to try to sell the Orb to make money.
"We wanted him to be a bit of a scoundrel," she said.
