Melissa Rivers Remembers Joan on Anniversary of Death
"We are remembering her the only way she would have wanted," she said.
— -- Melissa Rivers paid tribute to her iconic mother, Joan, in the best way possible Thursday night, remembering her best jokes over the years.
"Join us for tonight's #FashionPolice special #CelebratingJoan. #JoanRivers," she tweeted earlier in the day, hours before the special "Celebrating Joan" aired at 8 p.m.
During the special, E! highlighted Joan's best interviews and segments on "Fashion Police," including with the likes of Miss Piggy, Martha Stewart, Kris Jenner and more.
"Not only did I never know what was going to come out of my mother's mouth, neither did the stars who were brave enough to sit in the hot seat," Melissa, 47, noted before a montage of celebrity guests was shown.
The tribute also featured beautiful words from Melissa, whose mother died last Sept. 4 at the age of 81.
"We are remembering her the only way she would have wanted, and that's through laughter," she said, according to People magazine's recap.
Then, came the jokes about Joan.
"Some parents never talked to their kids about sex. My mother, on the other hand, never stopped," Melissa continued. "Outrageous was normal for Joan Rivers."
Joan never held back, poking fun at celebrities, so neither did Melissa, who showed a clip of Joan's innocent bloopers over the years.
