Mitch and Cam Tie the Knot on 'Modern Family'
The TV wedding follows a ruling that restored same-sex marriage in California.
May 22, 2014— -- Mitch and Cam finally tied the knot.
The “Modern Family” couple, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, got married in Wednesday’s episode, the second part of the season five finale.
The big day featured suspense, including a wildfire that leaves the couple and guests scrambling. But the moment arrived, and the couple walked down the aisle, and the whole family was there to witness the ceremony.
The story arc followed a June U.S. Supreme Court ruling that restored same-sex marriage in California. Ferguson and Stonestreet discussed the impact of the onscreen wedding during an April appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
“We’re opening people’s hearts and minds, no doubt about it, but we’re making them freaking laugh, too,” Stonestreet said.
