Natalie Portman Channels Jacqueline Kennedy in 'Jackie' Trailer
The biopic hits select theaters in December.
— -- The first trailer for "Jackie," a biopic about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, made its debut online today.
Natalie Portman stars as the former first lady in the film, which focuses on President John F. Kennedy's assassination and the events that followed.
Directed by Pablo Larraín, the film also features Caspar Phillipson as President Kennedy, Peter Sarsgaard as Robert Kennedy and Greta Gerwig as White House Social Secretary Nancy Tuckerman.
“She’s so well-known in terms of what she looks like and what she sounds like and how she moves, so to get that is definitely daunting,” Portman told Entertainment Weekly last month of the multidimensional role. “[We see] the toughness of who she was, dealing with what she had to go through while keeping herself together for the sake of the country and her family, and also the vulnerability and the intelligence of how she really crafted [her husband's] legacy.”
"Jackie," which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September and will hit select theaters Dec. 2, has been critically acclaimed and is expected to do well come awards season. Some have even predicted that this could be the film that wins Portman, 35, her second Oscar.
