— -- "The Muppets" return to prime time tonight on ABC. The show reunites former inter-species A-list couple Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy following their recent public break-up.

Kermit and Miss Piggy were willing to put their personal feelings behind them for the sake of promoting their new show-within-a-show, they told Jimmy Kimmel Monday night -- but even for old pros, the cracks were beginning to show during the sit-down.

"Miss Piggy, are you dating anyone right now?" Kimmel asked.

"Well, yeah, that's it, she's dating anyone," Kermit snapped back.

"I think you would make a great 'Bachelorette'," Kimmel noted. "Have you ever considered that?"

"Oh, don't think we haven't been talking," Piggy responded, referring to the producers of the reality show. "We've been talking, but nothing to announce right now."

"I do have high standards," Miss Piggy claimed, then slighting Kermie, said, "I wish I had those in place when I met you. Do you know he has webbed feet?!"

"I'm a frog," Kermit said meekly, "We all do."

"How was I supposed to know?" Piggy responded. "They don't teach you that in school. The only time I came across a frog at school I dissected it!" she yelled, eliciting a shocked scream from her former beau.

"The I bet you ripped his heart out, too!" a wounded Kermit replied. "Yeah, at least he had one!" Piggy fired back, leading Kimmel to essentially call time-out on the "genuinely uncomfortable" exchange.

"The Muppets" airs at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC.
