    No. 1: Jennifer Lopez. Calling her a "state-of-the-art success story," Forbes placed J.Lo in the top spot on their Celebrity 100 list for the first time. The magazine cited the singer/actress/designer's enormous success over the past 12 months -- re-launching her floundering career by co-hosting "American Idol," having a clothing line with Kohl's and earning $52 million.

    No. 2: Oprah Winfrey. Unseated from the top spot on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list last year by Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey remains in second place for another year. The magazine noted that Winfrey has had a rough 12 months -- ending her syndicated talk show after 25 years and launching her struggling OWN cable network. Winfrey is still the biggest earner on the list with $165 million.

    No. 6: Britney Spears. The Princess of Pop has spent the last 12 months getting back into the limelight. The magazine cited Britney's vigorous touring schedule (she did more than 75 shows in the past year), a platinum record with "Femme Fatale" and a new fragrance line with Elizabeth Arden. She earned $58 million in the last 12 months, Forbes reported.

  • Forbes Celebrity 100

    No. 7: Kim Kardashian. With all of the money and publicity she has earned from a successful reality show, its spin-offs, a fairytale wedding and subsequent divorce, Kim Kardashian can't be ignored. Although she earned $18 million in the last 12 months, Kardashian knows how to "stay famous and earn millions," Forbes said. Her sister Khloe ranks at No. 73 with $11 million.

    No. 8: Katy Perry. Forbes awarded singer Katy Perry a spot in the top 10 of its Celebrity 100 list this year because she and Michael Jackson are the only two artists ever to have five No. 1 singles from the same album. Her California Dreams tour was also wildly successful, grossing nearly $60 million, according to the magazine. Perry took home $45 million in the last 12 months.

    No. 9: Tom Cruise. Just as he was written off for the flop that was "Mission Impossible III" (2010), Tom Cruise made a resurgence on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list to the No. 9 spot thanks to the enormous, global success of "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" (2011). Forbes reported that Cruise has earned $75 million in the past 12 months.

    No. 10: Steven Spielberg. There's almost nothing Steven Spielberg, director and producer extraordinaire, didn't have his hand in last year. He directed two Oscar-nominated films, "The Adventures of Tintin" and "War Horse," as well as launched four new TV shows, including "Terra Nova" and "Smash," through DreamWorks. Forbes reported he earned $130 million in the last 12 months.
