Rita Wilson Announces She's Cancer Free
See what the actress and wife of Tom Hanks had to say.
— -- After being diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, Rita Wilson just shared the good news that she's cancer free.
"I'm one hundred percent healthy!" Wilson told reporters during The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Breakfast, according to People magazine.
Wilson also spoke to the magazine about her future, which includes touring with her band.
"I'll start in New York at the Cafe Carlyle for two weeks on Feb. 23," she said. "Part of the reason for going on tour is that I want to show people that you can have cancer, and you can still be out there doing what you love to do."
Hanks will be on the road with his multi-talented wife.
"He's already said, 'I am coming on the tour bus!' So I had to get one with a bigger bed. So that was important," she added.
Wilson revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer in April and that she underwent a double mastectomy.
"Last week, with my husband by my side, and with the love and support of family and friends, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction for breast cancer after a diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma," she wrote on Facebook at the time.
