Shirley Manson Rips Kanye West Over His Beck Comments
"Grow up and stop throwing your toys around," she wrote.
— -- Shirley Manson has some strong words for Kanye West after the rapper nearly interrupted Beck onstage at the Grammys on Sunday, then criticized Beck's Album of the Year win backstage.
West remarked, "Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé."
Manson strongly disagrees.
In a Facebook post directed at West, the Garbage frontwoman wrote, "It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry. You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK."
Manson said West came off as small and petty.
"In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own," she wrote. "Grow up and stop throwing your toys around."
Manson also advised West that Beyoncé "doesn't need you fighting any battles on her account."
