  • American Idol Judges

Ellen DeGeneres will join the "American Idol" team for its ninth season after former hosts Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell bid farewell to the show. But the transition of judges has not been without problems. According to Deadline.com, DeGeneres was not pleased when Cowell showed up an hour and a half late to a taping of the show, calling him a "prima donna." DeGeneres moved up the taping of her own show so she could make it to the "Idol" set on time. The conflict doesn't end there. According to sources, "American Idol" and Fox execs have put Tommy Mottola, the former Sony music chief who was once married to Mariah Carey, at the top of a list to replace Cowell.
