Hewitt Channels Hepburn Again

Jennifer Love Hewitt will practically be playing herself in Why Can't I Be Audrey Hepburn, seeing as it's about a girl who's obsessed with the late gamine film legend

Hewitt, who bears a passing resemblance to the star of Breakfast at Tiffany's and Roman Holiday, already played Hepburn herself in an ABC-TV biopic. Now, Hewitt will star in a new romantic comedy as a successful news anchorwoman who's obsessed with the style icon. Dumped by her wealthy fiance, she has to depend on his best friend, a wisecracking fireman, to help her discover that real life can be as romantic as a movie, according to Variety. Once upon a time, Téa Leoni was supposed to star in the film, with (yes, really), Steven Spielberg assigned to direct. The project then passed to such Hepburn wannabes as Renée Zellweger, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ashley Judd, before ending up in Hewitt's lap.

Writer Ryan Murphy, who created and executive produced the sassy but defunct Popular for the WB network, will make his feature directorial debut with the picture, which will shoot this winter.
