Scully's Last Season on X-Files?

July 2 -- The X-Files is facing a new X-factor: star Gillian Anderson says this season will be her last on the hit show.

The actress, who plays FBI agent Dana Scully, told London's Sunday Times she wanted to expand her role as mom. She'll also be looking to land a spot on the London stage.She said she would have a role in that city's West End theater district next summer, but would not elaborate.

'As Far From Scully As Possible'

"The stuff I am going to do is as far from Scully as humanly possible," she told the newspaper. "Having been Scully for such a long time, I have to prove myself in other roles."Anderson, who spent much of her youth in London, joined the X-Files in 1993. She and co-star David Duchovny, who played Fox Mulder, turned the show into an international sensation. But Duchovny left the show this season.He was replaced by Robert Patrick, who plays agent John Doggett. Anderson, 32, has one daughter, Piper, from her marriage to Clyde Klotz, a set designer on the series. They divorced in 1999. Piper is 6.
