Kidman Will Return to London Stage

Feb. 7 -- The show goes on for newly separated Nicole Kidman.

The actress, who announced her separation from husband Tom Cruise Monday, is making good on previous plans to return to the London stage in a production of Henrik Ibsen's The Lady From the Sea.

Trevor Nunn, director of the National Theatre, where the play will be staged, told the London Evening Standard, "It's taken a long while to sort it out, but it is going to happen." Nunn, who directed the 1996 film Twelfth Night and 1986's Lady Jane, says the play hasn't been scheduled yet. "We are waiting for the film projects to which she is committed to lock into place," he told the London paper.

Kidman bowed out of The Panic Room due to the flare-up of an existing knee injury but, at last report, is still part of the cast of the literary adaptation The Hours, co-starring Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep.

The Ibsen play, which is set in 19th-century Norway, explores the desires of a young woman married to an older country doctor. Kidman made a triumphant West End debut in 1998 when she briefly bared all in a production of David Hare's The Blue Room — something she won't be doing in the upcoming period play.
