January 21 -- No more Mr. Nice Guy.

Dylan McDermott, who plays do-gooding Bobby Donnell on ABC's legal drama The Practice is in negotiations with Columbia Pictures to play against type in the thriller Enough opposite Jennifer Lopez.

According to Variety, McDermott would play the charming but abusive husband of Lopez. Hey, it's the type of role that's earned Keanu Reeves some of the best reviews of his career in the just-opened thriller The Gift.

TV actor McDermott hasn't had a bona fide screen hit, despite such efforts as Three to Tango and 'Til There Was You, both romantic comedies. A cowboy role in co-starring Dawson Creek's James Van Der Beek was bumped from a fall to spring release date.

Lopez's The Wedding Planner, a romantic comedy that teams her with Matthew McConaughey, opens next Friday, followed by the drama Angel Eyes, due in August.
