September 8 -- Jimmy Page's back is killing him and taking the rest of his tour dates with the Black Crowes down with it.

In a statement released today, the group announced the cancellation of the remainder of its U.S. tour, as well as dates scheduled in Europe and the United Kingdom. The second leg of the band's U.S. jaunt was set for Sept. 15 through Oct. 7. But due to Page's continued back problems, his physicians have ordered the Led Zeppelin guitar great to take a complete rest for six weeks.

On Aug. 15, the group cancelled the entire second chunk of the American tour, due to Page's condition. But on Aug. 24, it was announced the band would make up three of those dates, starting with a Sept. 15 show at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, Calif., before the third leg of the tour began.

Scrapping the remainder of tour means Page and the Black Crowes won't be able to co-headline four shows with The Who at New York's Madison Square Garden between Oct. 3 and 7. Those concerts would have marked the conclusion of the group's U.S. dates.

In the statement, Page expressed his "great disappointment and distress over letting his fans down, as well as the Black Crowes." It also mentions that surgery is still a possible option for treating his ailment. Health permitting, the ensemble may possibly reschedule the aborted New York dates and honor commitments to perform in Japan in December.

Refunds for tickets purchased to the concerts are being issued at the point of purchase.
