Jimmy Page's Bad Back Shelves Crowes Tour

L O S  A N G E L E S, Sept. 11 -- Former Led Zeppelin guitaristJimmy Page and the rock band the Black Crowes have cancelled theremainder of their joint U.S. tour and upcoming European dates,due to a back injury Page suffered last month.

Page, 56, enjoying a career renaissance performing with theBlack Crowes, has been ordered to have complete rest for thenext six weeks, at which point he will be reassessed, spokesmanMitch Schneider said in a statement.

Surgery is a possibility, Schneider added.

Page wants to express his great disappointment and distressover letting his fans down, as well as the Black Crowes,Schneider said. The Black Crowes send their sincere wishes toPage for a healthy recovery and hope fans will understand.

No details about Pages condition have been disclosed sincetour organisers announced in August that the British guitar herohad hurt his back, forcing Page and the Crowes to cancel eightdates on the second leg of their U.S. tour last month.

With Fridays statement, the hot combo has now cancelled adozen more dates that were to have run Sept. 15 through Oct. 7 inthe United States.

Those dates include three appearances Page and the Croweswere to have made at Madison Square Garden in New York City,co-headlining with The Who, to cap the third and final leg oftheir U.S. tour.

Page and the Crowes also have scrubbed 13 European dates thathad been scheduled to run from Nov. 12 through Nov. 27, theirspokesman said.

If Pages recovery permits, he and the Crowes might be ableto reschedule some shows in New York and to perform as planned inJapan in December, the publicist said. Tickets for the cancelledshows will be refunded at the point of purchase.
