Pennsylvania Woman Named Miss Teen USA

S H R E V E P O R T, La., Aug. 27 -- Jillian Parry, an 18-year-old fromPennsylvania, was crowned Miss Teen USA 2000 on Saturday night.

Miss Texas, Nicole O’Brian, 17, of Friendswood, was firstrunner-up and Miss Kentucky, Kristen Johnson, 18, of Slaughters,was second runner-up.

Other finalists were Miss Georgia, Abby Vaillancourt, 18, ofFayetteville, and Miss Tennessee, Casey Porter, 17, of McMinnville.

Teens from all 50 states and the District of Columbia competedin the contest.

Parry, who wants to study law, won on the merits of her answersto questions based on the summer CBS hit Survivor. She got ananimated response from the judges for saying she would prefer toeat rats over eels.

Parry, of Newtown, was crowned by 1999 Miss Teen USA AshleyColeman of Delaware.
