Lots of Celebrity Love on the Rocks
In the last month, a string of celebrity couples have called it quits.
May 29, 2008— -- Hollywood hunk George Clooney is back on the market.
Clooney and his girlfriend, Sarah Larson, have split up, People.com and In Touch Weekly report.
The pair had been together for nearly a year. They made their first public appearance in August at the Venice Film Festival when Larson, 29, accompanied Clooney, 47, to the party celebrating his movie "Michael Clayton."
In September, the two were involved in a motorcycle accident in New Jersey. And early this year, Larson was the first girlfriend to attend the Oscars as Clooney's date. Early this month, she made People magazine's 100 Most Beautiful issue, where she was called "The Newbie."
Clooney and Larson are the latest in a string of celebrity couples who have called it quits this month. Among others:
Country singer Shania Twain, 42,
and her music producer husband, Robert "Mutt" Lange, 59
"It's literally just a growing apart, that's all," Lange says in the next issue of People, out Friday. On May 15, her publicist announced that the couple, who had been married for 14 years, had split. They have a 6-year-old son, Eja. Since the announcement, Lange has been linked with a household employee.
Actress Liv Tyler, 30, and British rocker Royston Langdon, 36
"They remain good friends and devoted parents to their son Milo," her representative said in a statement announcing the couple's separation on May 8. The couple have been married five years. Milo is 3.
Model/actress Cindy Margolis, 42,
and L.A. businessman Guy Starkman
"The end of any marriage is very sad; however, I feel blessed that Guy and I remain very close, we truly are the best of friends and the most devoted parents," she told Usmagazine.com on Tuesday. The couple, who were married nine years, have a son Nicolas, 5, and twin girls Sierra and Sabrina, 2.
And perhaps actors Kate Hudson, 29,
and Owen Wilson, 39
They had been spotted getting cozy numerous times this year, though neither confirmed a relationship. But People declared them split on May 15, by which time both had been seen in other people's company. Hudson has been spending time with cycling star Lance Armstrong.
