'Suicide Squad' Trailer: 5 Takeaways From Epic Clip
The trailer opens with "Bohemian Rhapsody" playing in the background.
— -- A "Suicide Squad" trailer that opens to "Bohemian Rhapsody" is possibly the greatest thing to happen to superhero movies since Robert Downey Jr. agreed to be Iron Man.
So, we have a new "Squad" clip and as always, we need to break it down. The cast, the action, the surprises.
As the great Heath Ledger said in "The Dark Knight" -- "Here we go...."
1 - "Worst of the Worst"
Viola Davis' Amanda Waller sums it up when she calls Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Bomerang and the rest of the gang the "worst of the worst." She puts this unlikely group of villains together to catch super shady and evil characters.
We also get to see the formation of the group and the lengths Waller will go to get Deadshot and his team to follow in line.
"Is this cheerleading tryouts?" Will Smith, who plays Deadshot, asks in the clip. He later says, "Let's go save the world," which could allude to the big mission the "Squad" has to accomplish down the road, potentially against The Joker.
2 - Rick Flagg
Meet Flagg, played by Joel Kinnaman, who will be "tasked" with keeping these inmates in line.
Flagg gives a run-down early on about who is on his team.
"Deadshot. Guy who shoots people," Flagg said. Referring to Killer Croc, "He's a crocodile and he eats people. [El Diablo] burns people. [Enchantress is] possessed by a witch. And she's [Harley] just crazy."
It's a pretty crazy comic lineup and you get to see a little of what each character can do.
"Here's the deal. You are going somewhere really bad to do something that will get you killed," Flagg tells the team, hence the name "Suicide Squad."
3 - The Comedy
This movie isn't just action and cool characters, but some dark comedy, as well.
In the middle of the clip, Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, "kills" it as the Joker's former sidekick.
"What's that? I should kill everyone and escape," she addresses the team. "Sorry, the voices [points to her head.] Kidding, that's not what they really said."
4 - The Joker
Speaking of comedy, Jared Leto's Joker makes an appearance in the trailer and he's everything you've expected from the Oscar winner.
"I can't wait to show you my toys," he says, slapping a man in the face. We later see him in full tux attire shooting and laughing the whole time.
Another chilling scene has the madman surrounded by his collection of weapons, hundreds of knives, guns, you name it. What is he doing in the scene? Why laughing of course.
5 - So Much More
If you've watched "Arrow" on the CW Network before or have read the books, you already know a lot of the backstory and supporting characters, but the clip also features the likes of Katana and her swords, Scott Eastwood as a member of the military unit supporting the squad, and many, many more little hidden tidbits.
