Mel Gibson Mockeries: The Top 5 Jokes

Joke's on you, Mel Gibson.

In addition to clinching the title of worst phone conversationalist of the year (maybe ever?), thanks to the recent glut of leaked audio recordings of him panting and ranting at his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, the once bombastic "Braveheart" actor has turned into a punchline.

Online and on TV, he's being mimicked and mocked. He's inspired a cocktail with a not-so-nice name. Even kittens are coming after him. Below, a roundup of five of the most hilarious mockeries of Mad Mel:

1. The Mel Gibson, a bipolar cocktail. New York City's famed Oak Bar at The Plaza hotel debuted this drink last Thursday, a twist on the classic Gibson cocktail that will indeed make you crazy if you throw back more than one. They penned the below recipe for at-home consumption. Shake it up and stay far away from the phone:

1 oz Van Gogh (famously bipolar) Vodka

1 oz. Bols V.O. Genever Gin (it is a Gibson, after all, even if a little psychotic)

3/4 oz. vermouth

3 oz. club soda

Splash of cocktail onion juice.

Best served on the rocks, like Gibson's career.

The Mel Gibson: insanity in a glass.

2. The butt of the late night jokes. David Letterman cut into the actor last week, basing a top 10 list around Gibson's potential excuses for the crazy calls. The highlights: "No. 9: Driven insane by World Cup vuvuzelas," "No. 2: Thought she was one of them Russian spies," and "No. 1: Wanted to show the Jews I'm an equal opportunity offender." Jimmy Fallon took a crack at Gibson too, making him the punch line of a joke about newly released photos of Cuban leader Fidel Castro: "A lot of people think he looked great but Mel Gibson thought he looked like a Vegas whore."

3. The many hilarious mashups. With just a little splicing, Gibson's rants get even more absurd. A host of mashups of his audio recordings live on YouTube, including videos in which Betty White and Miss Piggy are the target of his insults, and a "who can sound crazier" battle between him and Christian Bale, who infamously railed on a crew member on the set of "Terminator Salvation" in 2008.

4. The T-shirt. Jack Osbourne turned one of Gibson's insults into a fashion statement last week. The actor's smug mug plus his ridiculous proclamations make for one smirk-worthy piece of clothing.

5. The kittens and the cursive script. Gibson's horribly foul words; a slew of horribly cute kittens. If it sounds absurd, that's because it is, but try not to smile at this interpretation of his rants. (Note: the cats are cuddly, but the curses are explicit.)
