Wimbledon 2016: Sam Querrey Speaks Out on Victory Over Nicolas Mahut
The American tennis star continues to stun at Wimbledon.
— -- Sam Querrey continues to stun at Wimbledon.
The tennis pro ended top-seeded Novak Djokovic's Grand Slam streak and revealed his strategy on how he pulled off the Monday victory--winning the match 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
"Going into it I had lost to him eight times so I was just...hoping to keep it close, but as the match went on I gained a little more belief," Querrey said on "GMA" this morning. "I was probably the most excited guy at the stadium."
Querrey, who's the first American male to qualify for the quarterfinals in five years, admitted that he enjoyed watching the replays of the match on ESPN.
"It's hard to avoid it," he said. "You don't get these moments too often so I wanted to watch it as many times as I could."
Querrey continues to come out on top, beating France's Nicolas Mahut to reach his first Grand Slam quarterfinals.
"It was tough," Querrey said. "I had actually lost to Mahut about three weeks ago...so it was good to get him back here and to be in the quarterfinals and my first Wimbledon is really exciting."
