Sept. 24, 2009— -- Actor Ashley Hamilton and singer Macy Gray, the first dancers voted off "Dancing With the Stars," said they had fun in their one week on the show.

Hamilton and Gray appeared on "Good Morning America" today with their professional dance partners, Edyta Sliwinska and Jonathan Roberts.

"It was the first time I had ever done anything like that," Gray said, adding that she never studied dance. "It was a huge learning experience, I learned a lot … I'm actually a better performer now."

The Grammy Award winner looked awkward and ill-prepared during her Viennese waltz Tuesday night but, Roberts said, she deserves a lot of credit for rehearsing daily while on tour in Europe.

"What a great job Macy did," he said. "She really did great, I was really proud of Macy."

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said Gray's dancing was "beautiful in its own bizarre way." Still, the chanteuse received low scores from the judges.

Hamilton, who is still recovering from a motorcycle accident, said, "It was so much fun to go out there and be able to do this thing. ... I've had such a great partner."

The judges found Hamilton's foxtrot lackluster, and while the others tried to be kind to the son of actor and one-time contestant George Hamilton, judge Bruno Tonioli said Hamilton had "a total lack of showmanship."

Sliwinska, who also partnered with George Hamilton, said, "It was kind of nice to have that continuity, but they are very different."

The older Hamilton taught her a few dances, she said, while "Ashley had no idea how to dance. He came with no experience but he worked way harder than his dad and he did an amazing, amazing job."

Hamilton joked that they're starting a support group for dancers kicked off first.

Gray said she's grateful for the friends she made on the show.

"That was one of the best things. I met some really great people that I hope to hang out with in the future," she said. "It was a fun one week."
