'Black-ish' Star Tracee Ellis Ross Defends Punching Anthony Anderson During Kissing Scene
I thought he was inappropriate in his kiss," she said.
— -- “Black-ish” stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross took over “Good Morning America” today to discuss their rave reviews, becoming more comfortable in their characters as a family and also how the show tackles hot topics such as police brutality.
But Ross also revealed an uncomfortable moment on the set with Anderson during a kissing scene gone wrong.
“We had a kissing scene and I’d been very tired because we’d been working; it was a 16-hour day,” she explained. “We were in the last hour of the 16-hour day at the end of a week, and we started the kiss and, somehow, I don’t know what happened but I thought he was inappropriate in his kiss.”
“I was not,” Anderson, 45, chimed in.
“He was absolutely not, but apparently, because I don’t remember it, I did a 1-2-3 punch really hard to his chest to the point where — I’ve never punched another human being— but when it hit, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s a neat sound.’ It went boing! The next day I was sore,” she said.
“Anthony, it’s over,” Ross, 43, joked with her co-star who is still bitter about the misunderstanding.
“No, it’s not,” Anderson shot back.
“Black-ish” airs tonight at 9:30 ET on ABC.
