Meet Dario, the Snack-Happy Dog Who Stole Hearts at the Westminster Dog Show
Dario grabbed the Internet's attention when he tugged at his handler for snacks.
— -- He wasn’t the best in show, but he definitely stole the show.
Dario, the Leonberger that competed at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, captured the hearts of dog lovers everywhere with his canine charisma and desire for snacks.
The dog has become an Internet favorite after he tugged at his handler Sam Mammano's pocket in the competition ring.
“Initially, I was very upset and disappointed because I knew that the judge would not give him a second look after that,” Dario’s owner, Alida Greendyk, said on “Good Morning America.” “I had heard the next morning that he had already become an overnight sensation and I couldn’t believe it. He is a very exuberant young boy. He’s two-and-a-half…he’s still very much a big puppy.”
This isn't the first time Dario has exhibited his playful personality in the ring. Last April at the National Specialty show, he also started tugging at his handler's clothes, forcing Greendyk to step into the ring with him. Greendyk said Dario will be returning to Westminster next year.
