one woman got the ride of her life when a giant sinkhole ripped open a road and swallowed her entire car. The images are incredible. And it's a miracle firefighters were able to pull her out unharmed. Abc's tai hernandez has the story. A car just fell through the street on detroit and bancroft. A hole opened up. It is in the hole. It sunk in. Reporter: Panicn the streets of toledo, ohio, yesterday, as a sinkhole opened up in the middle of the road and swallowed a car and its driver without any warning. Frightened witnesses unable to reach the woman, still trapped inside, pleaded with 911 operators to send help. A pipe burst, pouring water into the car. Oh, my god. I'm above the hole. Is there water filling up in the hole? Yeah. It's filling up the hole. She's moving around. If you guys can hurry, she's waving her hands. They're coming, lights and sirens. Reporter: Pamela knox, the elementary school principal said she had no idea what was happening as the ground opened up beneath her. And all of a sudden, my car was falling and rolling. I was scared. And really terrified. Reporter: When rescuers reached knox, they warned her she had to move quickly because the ground was still dangerously unstable. With the help of a firefighter, she was able to climb a ladder to safety. Once I got to the ground level, they walked me away from the scene. No sooner had they started walking me, then more of the street started to cave in on top of my car. Reporter: Amazingly, knox was unhurt throughout the whole ordeal but went to the hospital as a precaution. For "good morning america," tai hernandez, abc news, new york.
