strong words to slam hollywood. And sounding off on mean girls to sex, in interview after interview. As she is set to star in the new "hunger games" movie. Cecilia vega is here this morning. Reporter: This is one superstar not known for holding back. And the premiere of the "hunger games" movie, jennifer lawrence had a lot to say. Like hollywood using sex to sell, especially when it comes to female stars. Jennifer lawrence hit the red carpet for the premiere in landed for "catching fire," the sequel to "the hunger game." This morning, the 23-year-old oscar-winner is using the spotlight to shed light on the darker side of hollywood. Girls are mean to each other. We're just so unsupportive. The real-life ckatniss, taking aim at the mean girls culture. It's become downright cut throat. I watch the women pointing to these women and judging them and calling them ugly and calling them fat. It's just like, where have we come? Why are we here? Reporter: Lawrence, slamming shows like e!'S "fashion police" in particular. She's gained weight. She was in heels. Reporter: The topic she spoke passionately about during a recent interview with yahoo! Things like that are showing the generations of young people to put value in all the things that are wrong with these unrealistic expectations for women. It's disappointing that the media keeps it alive and fuels that fire. That's something that really bothers me. Reporter: Lawrence speaking out about how hollywood portrays young women. Part of the industry that sells, sex sells. And for disgusting reason, young sex sells even more. And for some people, that's how they feel best. That's how they feel sexy. Reporter: And she's not holding back about her own troubles with body image in the industry. Lawrence has been refreshingly candid about overcoming her own struggles of body image in the industry. Telling "elle" magazine, in hollywood, I'm obese. I'm considered a fat actress. In the new issue of "in style" magazine, I used to tell myself stop eating. People are going to see this. But nope. I was like, I still want candy. And I still want a hot dog. You look how you look and be comfortable. Are you going to be hungry every day to make other people happy? That's just dumb. Reporter: Lawrence says she is making a conscious decision to make a good example. She hopes her role of katniss everdeen encourages young girls to be healthy. I agree. I love her. She's got great style. Katnis katniss. We have the cast of "the hunger games: Catching fire" beginning tomorrow. Jennifer lawrence is here next WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20th. Looking forward to all of them being here.
