Transcript for Kesha Opens Up About Going to Rehab
? it's going down ? It's so great to have superstar singer/songwriter Kesha with us gracing the cover of "Teen vogue" this month and seen her as one of the judges on "Rising star" advising up and coming singers competing for their big break. I've enjoyed talking with you this morning and it is wonderful to see you, people know they've been pulling for you. They know that you were in rehab for an eating disorder that you checked yourself in. So we want to know how are you doing? I'm doing really well. Thanks for asking. I've been overwhelmed with the amount of love and support I've received. It's insane. Like it was really touching. I'm so grateful for it. What was the pose difficult aspect of that portion of the journey for you. The whole process? Just really learning to block out negativity and not letting the hateful messages get to me because I, you know -- I've received some hateful things just trying to block that all out and stay positive. I hope you are feeling the love. I mean that and that's a lesson for us all to block that out and just to accept the good and this new music that you're working on, I know. It's fun. Well, how is it different? Well, I've written all sorts of different kinds of songs. One song is kind of country and other ones are just about the craziness of life but I just -- I write all my own music so I've just been writing like crazy. Okay, because on Twitter people have been asking, in fact, someone asked directly and said "When is the new album coming out?" I don't know. I don't have a date. All I know I am doing "Rising star" on Sundays and every other day of the week I'm in the studio. Oh, and speaking of "Rising star" which I'm a big fan of, I watch on Sunday -- It is fun. It's great because you and ludacris and brad paisley, of course, you're the experts, the judges but people at home, that crazy app. The app is great. All you do, you check in to vote yes or no and these amazing singers like their fate is in your hands. You see the bar going up, it's super exciting. Wonderful to see faces all across the country that are there as the wall goes up and you know these young performers. I feel for them. Do you? Such pressure behind that wall. I don't want to do it. I mean on the spot like that especially when you pick someone out of the crowd and you, I have to say, very constructive. Thank you. You give them something that they can really use. I try. Is it -- I really am such an advocate of being positive that it's hard for me to say no to people like I'm the judge that has a really hard time saying no. So I usually will like if I have to say no I give them hope because I don't want to be a dream crusher. I really don't. Uh-huh, no. Why should anybody do that but it helps that you're being constructive like that and, hey, real duels coming up this Sunday. This Sunday's duels very exciting when two performers go head on and it's -- this week is going to be I think the craziest honestly. Then after that, you have it so seven people will go on and only the west coast will be able to save one. Yep. It's getting down to the nitty-gritty. I think they're calling that like the death match or something, really, really morbid. I don't know or like something like that. Sudden death. Sudden death. That's what it's called. That's it. So much to look forward to. Look at you. I love -- I had to look closely. These are cats. Kitties. We know how you feel about -- Cats, I love them. I don't know if you've heard. Yeah. But I'm starting a kitty cat cult. Could you -- Yeah, I have heard about it. I think there's some people here that -- Kitty hats. Really the only prerequisite, you have to love cats more than people and you can be in my cult and all we do is we sit around and we like knead on the rug, meow and just meow and play with big becauses of yarn and play with my kitties. Isn't glitter involved or something. We roll around in the glitter and -- Why not? Why not have a good time? That's what life is all about, right? Even George was commenting. Likes the blue. I know we never know what shade you're going to come up with. I'm a rainbow. So I'm just having my hair be a rainbow right now. Okay. I'm going through all the colors of the rainbow because I feel like a rainbow. That's my new thing. I'm a rainbow. Why is that. Before I used to dress in black and now I've let color into my life. Embrace it. Very metaphorical. That's what we're all working in progress. Absolutely. I feel like I always will be too. Yeah. And your music too. Yeah. Kesha, thank you. Thank you. Thanks for keeping it real and chatting with us. Of course. Looking good. You can catch "Rising star" Sundays 9:00 P.M. Eastern right here on ABC.
