There's 58 members of congress, many of them democrats, who have called on shinseki to go. All-told, 1,700 vets were found to be on secret waiting lists at the Phoenix V.A. And at risk of being lost or forgotten. According to the v.a.'s internal watchdog, the veterans were forced to wait an average of 115 days to get a first appointment. While the hospital kept secret lists to conceal how long it took to get care. And it gets worse. Investigators say the problem is systemic throughout the V.A. Now, some 42 V.A. Health centers around the country are under investigation. Do you solemnly swear -- Reporter: At a hearing last night, members of congress unloaded on senior V.A. Officials, demanding answers. The only thing that's clear right now is that there's 40 brave soldiers that served their country proudly that died while waiting on a list. What's unclear is how much further this goes.
